Angola launches a public consultation on multidimensional poverty

25 March, 2019

On March 19th, the National Statistical Institute (INE in Portuguese) with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and OPHI, launched a first public consultation on multidimensional poverty in Angola.

In the event, Camilo Centa, INE director, indicated: “the indicators that UNDP and OPHI globally use may not reflect what our priorities are, that is why we are here to identify our dimensions and indicators and then calculate our Multidimensional Poverty Index.”

The consultation main objectives are:

  • Disseminate methodology and importance of the MPI
  • Promote reflection on the MPI use in programs and public policy
  • To get contributions from society to establish dimensions and indicators in the composition of the National MPI.
