Global MPI 2022 to launch on 17th October

Publicado el: October 12th, 2022 Por MPPN

12 October 2022 – Register now to join the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the live launch of the annual update of the global Multidimensional Poverty Index on 17th October 2022 at 10am EDT. The online launch this year is timed to contribute to global advocacy on poverty reduction during the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (IDEP).

The joint OPHI and UNDP 2022 MPI report features the latest estimates and analyses on multidimensional poverty, providing a closer look at the interlinked deprivations of poor people globally and shedding valuable insights on how to tackle poverty by addressing it in its multiple dimensions.

The global MPI is an internationally comparable measure of acute multidimensional poverty covering over 100 countries in developing regions. It complements traditional monetary poverty measures by capturing the acute deprivations in health, education, and living standards that poor people face simultaneously.

The leading experts discussing the findings will include:

Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator
Aminata Touré, Former Prime Minister, Senegal
Hala Helmy-el Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Egypt
Luis Felipe López-Calva, Global Director of Poverty and Equity, Global Practice, World Bank
Sabina Alkire, Director, Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative

Moderator: Shankuntala Santhiran, International Broadcast Journalist

Register for live launch 10:00-11:00 EDT
